Welcome to history for all ages!

Welcome to our new website. The site has been updated and given a new look. We have also worked hard to develop it as a resource for local historians who are interested in Alderbury and Whaddon in Wiltshire, UK.

The Alderbury & Whaddon Local History Research Group was formed in 1998 by some enthusiastic amateur local historians determined to write a village history for the Millennium. The Group has continued with its research into the history of the parish, its buildings, its institutions and people. It meets monthly for discussion and to report progress and welcomes new members with a research interest.

We hope you will be able to find something of interest no matter what you are researching. Please let us know what you think, and what you would like to see in the future. We meet monthly, usually in a member’s home. If you live locally and want to join, email us; there are no fees or subscriptions; all you need is enthusiasm and a willingness to join in. If you have material you are willing to share, or want to contribute through original research, please contact us. We may be able to help you to organise publication, or if material is suitable, add it to our web site. Most of all, have fun!
