History often only records big events and the lives of the “great and the good”. We must therefore turn to social histories to find out about how our communities have grown. Our local village magazine, The Fountain, will celebrate half a century of continuous publication in December 2014. We have been collecting and digitizing copies of the village magazine for over ten years. Our collection of over 560 issues (10,000 pages) is now available free of charge by clicking here

Current research

Focus on allotments

July 2012 saw the official opening of the new allotment site off Southampton Road, designed to meet the increased demand for plots on which local people could grow their own fruit and veg. Whether this level of demand will continue only time will tell but there have been allotments in Alderbury for over 170 years. Read more about this by clicking here
